Washington May 23 Special Colonel Livingston receives a letter asking if he must build the foundation and supply outside repairs for the Atlanta structure. He replies by telegram to bid for dismantling and re erecting in Atlanta with no foundation work or outside substitutions. The subcommittee plans a favorable report on the exposition bill while the House delays the District of Columbia measures.
Washington May 29 Colonel Breckinridge by his attorneys presented the bill of exceptions to Judge Bradley in the Pollard Breckinridge breach of promise case. The court refused to sign, ruling the other side must receive a copy by last Thursday. The ruling ends the path to appeal unless further steps arise. Breckinridge's team contends next moves are unclear as counsel for Pollard had delayed and extension was waived.
The 106th Presbyterian general assembly in Saratoga adjourned in May 1895 after 58 sessions. The body endorsed suppressing lotteries, adopted reports on theological seminaries and Sabbath observance, and thanked Moore Memorial Church. A fierce debate over temperance and party politics occurred, with dissent and an exchange of courtesies marking the close. The assembly lamented the lack of organic reunion talks with the Southern General Assembly.
Prominent Indianapolis officers F A Coffin P B Coffin and A S Reed were found guilty on multiple counts for aiding and abetting bank looting by ex Indianapolis National Bank president Haughey.
