Churches Urged To Social Service In Presbyterian Report
Kansas City May 23 The general assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States (Southern) adopted a report urging active church involvement in social economic and industrial affairs. Presented by Rev J S Lyons the document argues the church must address social wrongs with the same vigor as spiritual salvation and backs voluntary organizations for reform. It notes duties for Christian citizens to oppose injustice and calls for fair wages safe conditions and old age relief. The report also discusses proposed control of beneficence funds by committees and the expected Women’s Council reaction.
