Mill Crockett Built Gone in Floods at Little Shoal Creek
Florence Alabama May 25 Special One of the old historic landmarks washed away by recent floods was the mill on Little Shoal creek in Lawrence county Tennessee built by David Crockett. Nearby Crockett spring marks the Alamo hero’s cabin site. The Crockett place yields a phosphate geologic monstrosity with 30 percent free phosphoric acid 4 percent potash and ammonia. Discovered five years ago it acts as plant food requires no treatment and calcined and crushed. Tests showed peppers thrived when using it and it has insecticidal properties killing soil insects. The deposit covers 500 to 600 acres of the old Crockett estate.
