Passenger train No 1 southbound on the Louisville and Nashville railroad was wrecked at Rutherford Creek bridge four miles south of Columbia Tennessee. The wob occurred after a 40 foot trestle gave way due to high water. Several passengers were injured. rescue and repair work underway.

Judge W M Martin ruled the demurrer to the indictment charging perjury in the case of former Lieutenant Governor John A Lee. Lee filed for a change of venue alleging prejudiced, unfair state court. James M Young and Joe Goldman filed supporting affidavits. Judge Martin sustained the motion and named Judge Samuel Davis to preside.
