A freight collision with a sleeper car near Brighton Station disrupted the southern express last night. Several passengers were injured, including Prince Yamashina of Japan, with bruising to the side and arm. Eleven members of his suite suffered varying injuries as teams worked to clear wreckage and care for the wounded.
Leonidas Johnson, a 22 year old convicted rapist and burglar, was hanged near the Henry County jail after a mob stormed the jail. Thousands witnessed the garroting ordeal as Johnson spoke briefly, prayed, sang with a preacher, and finally died when the trap misfired and he dangled until the rope was reset. His body was sent to Dr Auten for scientific study under a personal will.
