Wreck Disrupts Night Express Near Brighton Station

A freight collision with a sleeper car near Brighton Station disrupted the southern express last night. Hangings Draw Crowd At State Jail Execution In 1885 Georgia

Leonidas Johnson, a 22 year old convicted rapist and burglar, was hanged near the Henry County jail after a mob stormed the jail. Thousands witnessed the garroting ordeal as Johnson spoke briefly, prayed, sang with a preacher, and finally died when the trap misfired and he dangled until the rope was reset. His body was sent to Dr Auten for scientific study under a personal will.
