Texas acts to seek clemency for Leon Frank in Franks case

A Saturday session of the Texas legislature considered a resolution urging Georgia authorities to grant leniency in the Leon Frank case. Gov Governor and the prison commission received a letter from Judge Arthur Powell stating that the late Judge Roan believed Frank innocent. Powell described intimate doubts about the verdict and urged reconsideration, noting his own conversations with the judge before his death. Powell’s letter argues for a new trial or pardon. He cites strong sentiment in south Georgia in favor of Frank.
