Ashes of Buddha Found Near Peshawar Relic Shown in India
A bronze casket containing a Buddha relic was found in a buried chamber under an ancient pagoda near Peshawar by British archaeologists. The viceroy Earl Minto presented the relics to Buddhist priests from Burma, and India will safeguard them within its empire. The piece includes a crystal container, a lotus-embossed lid, a king Kanishka motif, coins, and inscriptions.

Buddhist Narratives and Teachings From Foreign Lands
A long, interpretive passage reviews the life of the Buddha, his death, and the Buddhist view of reincarnation and Nirvana. It outlines Buddhist beliefs on cause and effect, heaven and hell, and ascetic practices. The text also compares prayer practices, wheels of prayer, and mentions the Buddha as a teacher not a god. It concludes with notes on worship style and modern service development led by Frank G Carpenter.
