A chaotic scene in Hawaii led to anarchy as thousands of individuals, labeled as 2300 JAS, caused widespread disorder and disruption across the islands amid escalating tensions and confrontations with authorities.
On Maui at Waialua and La Haina a wage strike by Japanese workers escalates into violence. Police and militia guard a plantation mill as whites and troops are confined in a courthouse while Japanese forces tighten control. A steamer Kinau carries reinforcements to the scene amid a broader breakdown of order.
Washington May 21 Delegates to the Southern Industrial Parliament opening here next Tuesday include two score already registered with commercial organizations. York will send delegates from the chamber of commerce the cotton exchange the board of trade and the board of transportation. Governor Glenn of North Carolina prepared but that he will reach here Tuesday morning to open the meeting. Senator Mons of West Virginia also telegraphed that the state should send a strong delegation.
Confederate veterans and many Grand Army members gathered to decorate graves. Cavalcade and grave marking were led by Edward Gwen and Edward Lead, with a wartime speech by General George D Lead of the United States Army. First such tribute in the region, honoring Confederate dead by a Grand Army member.

Charles Cox president of the Southern Female College at College Park died at Slacks Sanitarium at 7:00 p.m. after a heart illness. The funeral will be held in LaGrange with many Cox College students attending. Survived by wife, daughter, brother and two sisters. Born LaGrange, he led Cox College since 1884 and previously studied at Virginia University.

Also notes Tokyo denial of Korean ruler removal and Stoessel defense claims Port Arthur was nearly undefended at outbreak of war.
Deputies stationed around Bedford Indiana kept vigil all night after rumors of a mob aiming to lynch Vireit Wilson, a former newspaper man accused of shooting Mic Guthre and Mrs Silas Guthre. Wilson and two armed guards at the jail were not harmed. Guthre and his wife were wounded. Guthre remains in critical condition from shock.
The campus at Calle Park serves as a monument to the late president of the ingiltation. He planted rare trees and enjoyed explaining variety to friends. Professor Coy was beloved for his gentle dispen and cordial manner, and will be mourned by many in homes and circles.
