Local Option Debate Promotes Permanent Georgia Law
Carrollton GA May 21 Special speaker Baw W Small argues three liquor controls license local option or state prohibition. He cites Maine Vermont New Hampshire and Kansas and warns state prohibition would risk democracy and open counties to illegal saloons. He urges Georgia to keep local option and avoid a pro prohibition split that could endanger the Democratic Party.

Pardoned in Georgia after six years for murder
John Dixon of Taylor county, imprisoned for life for the murder of his father in law JF Barfield, has been pardoned by the Georgia governor after new affidavits and witness statements emerged. The 13 year old Barfield daughter’s testimony was challenged as she later said she was forced to swear. Colonel Murrow and local officials organized a pardon campaign supported by 500 Taylor county residents and court leaders. Dixon, now a lumber inspector, awaits reunion with his wife and children and may keep his job with a Macon area company.
