Georgia Lawmakers Advance Agriculture Department Bill

Tragic Rail Wreck Near Town Claims Blackman Core

A freight train wreck two miles from town killed Bob Manco and seriously injured the fireman Lee Arp. The tender derailed first, cars piled and crushed, with workers scrambling amid wreckage. In the chaos the engine separated, cars scattered, and a dozen cars were damaged or overturned. The inquest was set for the morning at Wyley & Barclay. the fireman survived, though hurt, while Manco died at Simpson crossing.

Tariff reform meeting in Chicago held by reformers

About a thousand people gathered in Farwell hall for a tariff reform meeting under the American Tariff Reform League. Franklin Maidsegh presided. speeches by National Farmers Alliance leaders and state figures urged passage of the Mule bill and condemned legislative actions.
