Union Seminary Debate Probed at Assembly Meeting
The 1913 general assembly discussed the Union Theological Seminary issue with zeal. President Brown asserted the assembly should not debate doctrinal matters, focusing instead on closer relationship. The executive commission found no basis for charges against the Board of Home Missions and praised its work, while suggesting reforms in some departments including the bureau of the church and country life led by Rev. Warren H. Wilson. Dissatisfaction grew over Moderator Stone’s swift motion to adopt the report, with a reconsdideration anticipated as commissioners await broader debate.
