Gainesville May 12 two officers Marsha C Slaughter and Deputy Sheriff Charles White were lured to a lonely spot near Archer Florida and assassinated. Deputy Manning feigned death and escaped after being wounded as the posse captured Cain Perry and three of his sons in a raid following a supposed skin game. The killings come after Marshal Slaughter previously killed Ben Stokes, a known blind tiger operator, in self defense.
