Sherman Texas May 12 Charles Buttrell and John Carlisle were hanged for the murder of Billie Sherman on April 28 1892 in Denison. The case linked to earlier assaults and indictments from 1887 to 1892. Myers and Luttrell faced prison while Carlisle was recaptured for trial.
John Daly, a machinist, killed his wife at their home in St Louis Missouri last night. He stabbed her throat twice with a knife and crushed her skull with an axe then slashed his own throat but survived. Daly was arrested by an officer after fleeing the scene. The wife was deaf and ten months pregnant. The couple had a troubled relationship.
A late report from Barnwell, South Carolina, states that a mob of black men is gathering to lynch the colored woman who testified against John Peterson. The incident stems from accusations tied to Peterson’s life and the testimony given, with authorities awaiting further developments.
The Cunard steamship Campania arrived at Queenstown after a five day passage from Sandy Hook to Queenstown, the fastest eastward crossing yet. Passengers cheered as the ship neared harbor and Cunard planned to land Campania’s passengers upon arrival, amid jubilation and betting over landing order with the Paris at Southampton.

Senor Mayorga, former Nicaragua legation secretary, says revolutionaries and government both muted the canal plan and peace must prevail.
