Savannah May 9 A fireworks exhibition on a barge at Thunderbolt went wrong killing two men from Pain & Sons who were operating the show. Masters and an unnamed Nayanoab helper were aboard when a pile of fireworks exploded sending the barge into the river. Search failed to recover the men immediately as they were drowned by the blast, with electrician Sam Wyllly crying to save them. The accident ends May week and marks the first fatality linked to the celebration.
Brunswick Ga May 9 Special Sym Baker was arrested after a washerwoman overheard him confessing to an attack on W D Smith Sunday morning. Police found a peeled hickory stick and the umbrella Smith carried. Smith, struck from behind on the head, remains in dangerous condition. Authorities anticipate a strong circumstantial case and a prompt confession. Police charged with mistreatment say they'll file counter charges tomorrow.
