WIRE DAMAGE HITS CITY AND TELEGRAPH COMPANIES
The heaviest losses fell on the Georgia Railway and Electric Company and Southern Bell Telephone Company as wires were down all day. Traffic on the west side halted, street cars halted, and repairs proceeded through Mitchell street. Estimated losses include Southern Bell around 2000 dollars with multiple destroyed instruments and poles, Atlanta Telephone Company about 700 dollars, Postal Telegraph minor losses, and Western Union significant cables though limited local impact. Quick linemen work restored service by next day. Elks lodge in Tifton organized with about fifty members led by HH Coombs and others.
