Mayhem and arson as three masked robbers at large terrorize Calhoun county residents. They bound a farmer’s wife, tortured Charles Berkshire with burning matches to coerce money, and fled after the attempted mutilation. Berkshire later died. Nearby, a blaze at Tallva, Texas Austs forty horses perished, destroying a warehouse and damaging Miller and Wongecifts factory, with losses estimated around 50 000.

An Atlanta man 68 year old F. M. Blacker was pronounced dead after two hours in a deathlike state during embalming preparations. A sudden breathing movement and faint flush revived him briefly, but he later died again. Blacker, a former Ohio farmer, leaves two daughters in Chicago and Atlanta. Funeral at Swift Hall's with Westview burial.
Mrsady Clark, a resident at 189 Twenty eighth Place, was shot in the neck when a bullet fired from a mob below shattered a window and struck her mirror a bystander reported the wound is serious but not life threatening pending infection risk.
Cleveland May 4 The thirteenth annual conference of Episcopal church clubs of the United States opened here with holy communion led by Very Rev C D Willis dean of Cleveland and an address by Bishop William A Leonard D D of Chicago. The session continued with further religious observances and addresses.
Schaffer of the Chicago Team Owners Association stood in his doorway with a rifle to shield an unknown black strike breaker from a mob of more than 1000 neighbors near 2722 Fifth Avenue. Police escort led the rescued man to a street car as a second strike breaker hid in a cellar and was also removed by a women escort. Both men were reportedly beaten later by strike sympathizers.
In Jacksonville Florida on May 4 Attorney General Moody ordered District Attorney Siripling to proceed with another trial of Helen Wilmans Post convicted of using a male for fraudulent purposes and sentenced to one year and one day. Post had appealed and the appellate court remanded the case noting that mental incompetence could not be questioned by the court. It was expected the case would be discussed.
