A six story power plant on Third Street near Green in Louisville burned after midnight, destroying or damaging thirty five buildings and causing losses estimated between three hundred thousand and four hundred thousand dollars. The Louisville Steam and Electric Motor Power Company plant was among the largest in the country and its fall damaged nearby offices and stores. The governor says he has given the case patient investigation, despite widespread belief in his innocence and doubts raised by Lazarus Field’s affidavit and Detective McMannan’s findings.

Waycross Ga May 2 Special Jim Strickland of McDonalds Mill Ga is charged with attempting an outrage on Temple Dean a young white woman of that place. He has been brought here and placed in jail. Strickland is a farmer with a family he denies the accusation. Tem me Dean is described as a respectable woman. The affair stirred the community and the prisoner's wife seeks bail.

Wood shot Higgins four times in the courthouse lobby.
Albert Watts of Wayne county attempted to kill Conductor Jones during a Kenova division passenger run at Ferguson station Huntington West Virginia May 2. Watts and accomplices threatened to seize the train but the conductor restrained them. guards have been posted and the company vows to prevail.
Fort Smith Ark May 2 On Batards night a deputy marshal tried to arrest John Davis and Bill Binge aboard a train. Binge fled. a confrontation followed as the deputy drew a Winchester and exchanged shots with Davis Starr and others, leaving the officer wounded while Davis Starr were pursued. Death preferable to bondness.
