Judge Newsome Placed in Insane Asylum After Jury Finds Mind Unbalanced
Judge David A. Newsome, 71, was declared insane by a Greene County jury in Atlanta yesterday and ordered to the state insane asylum at Milledgeville at the earliest possible date, with temporary confinement at the Tower. The crowd witnessed the verdict as the jurors seated remained present. Newsome, long a familiar figure in Atlanta, was once ordinary of Greene County and known for his floral hobby and singing The Lone Rock by the Sea. He asked to shake hands with jurors as he left.
