Odds and Ends of News at the State Capitol

The Georgia primary registration closes Saturday, with only names added since 1900 eligible to vote. The primary, a forecast of the fall election, draws broad participation as county committees and tax collectors push registrations, especially in agricultural areas where deputy registrars help voters. Some counties like Fultonia show high activity while weather disruptions delayed farming registrations. Haralson and Lee delay county primaries, citing local reasons. Officials debate funding from state offices for county candidates, with Elbert withdrawing its request, while several counties seek support to avoid undermining party precedents. Effingham joins the list of counties seeking assistance, though few more likely to follow. The supreme court recently examined the Coweta docket.
