At a Grand West mass meeting Atlanta citizens raised funds for a proposed university endowment in Atlanta. By nightfall subscriptions neared 81 0000 with $150 000 from veterans assured and $255 000 target nearly met. Leaders urged further giving at a Central Presbyterian church gathering.

Boston March 30 The Congregational Educational Society received word from Dr D K Pearsons of Chicago that he offers a $50,000 gift to Rollins College Winter Park Florida. The donation is contingent on the college raising $150,000 more. Rollins College is aided by the Congregational Educational Society.
Nashville dispatch reports General William St. Jackson once a Confederate cavalry leader died at Belle Meade near Nashville in his 68th year after long illness. He helped lead Forests division and the Tennessee invasion, later shaping Belle Meade stock farm. Survived by two children. funeral arrangements not yet set. He was born in 1835 in Paris Tennessee and was a West Point graduate of 1856.

New Louisville Ark March 30 Meager news reached here of a lynching in this county three days ago at Bradley near the Louisiana line. Frank Robertson the negro lynched was in jail charged with arson. He confessed to firing a store. Last Thursday night a party of twenty five men overpowered the jailer and rode away with him. The body has not been found.
