Seven Year Tax Suit Settled in Georgia Rail Case
A seven year dispute over taxes on fifteen thousand shares of the Western Railway of Alabama, owned by the Central of Georgia Railway, was settled with a payment of 229000 to satisfy all claims. The state will continue to pursue annual taxes, with the final distribution totaling 4286.82 to the state, 92772.80 to Chatham County, and 120140.34 to Savannah, under Judge Pendleton's order.
