Citywide gathering highlights charter reform drive
Mayor Woodward described the largest citizen gathering he attended in Atlanta. He noted thousands more would have attended if not for bad weather and other events. The crowd included 300 physicians and dairymen at a Tuley lecture and many civic groups. Alderman McClelland and Councilman Humphrey organized seating and the Ad Men’s Club quartet enlivened the event. The audience largely received cards indicating support or opposition to the charter submitted by the twenty five. The mayor, introduced as for the people, delivered a humorous, engaging address advocating charter reform and opposing wasted money and petty pals.
