Fragmentary sale notice describes a seven room home at a corner lot, offered by AN & SON. It hints at “the nicest home in the city” with convenience features and calls for full particulars and a month for purchase.
Aboard the Three Friends from Jacksonville, General Enrique Collazo Major Charles Hernandez and Duke Estrada landed in Cuba with fifty four men and a vast cargo. The convoy also included arms from the Mallory, totaling 750000 rounds, 1200 rifles and 2100 machetes. Cuban excitement rose as the group neared Alligator Key and the Cuban struggle gained fresh momentum.
The account traces a coastal landing of arms including a large naphtha launch and iron surf boats from a steamer, with General Collazo and associates aboard, proceeding to Alligator Key and towing the Mallory. Gomers Point New Jersey March 1 sixty two Cubans led by Calixto Gracia sailed from Atlantic City aboard the Bermuda for Cuba to fight Spaniards. Officials at Washington were alerted as the operation unfolded.

Washington March 18 The House considered resolutions censuring Ambassador Bayard. Cousins delivered a caustic yet patriotic attack praising U S greatness under protection, while McCreary and Dinsmore defended Bayard. Debates extended past the hour with an eventual adjournment to tomorrow.
The secretary of agriculture plans to purchase ten million packets of garden, field and flower seeds from republican growers and dealers. Each senator and representative will receive 15,000 packets after a one third deduction for distribution by the department. About 300 tons of seed must be delivered within thirty days from March 17, 3806.
Receiver Burleigh reports a startling shortage by Paul Schultz of more than 1.5 million dollars across Northern Pacific Railway, Yakima Investment, Spokane Realty, Tacoma Railroad and Motor, Henry Villard, and local banks. Schultz aimed to rival Vanderbilt and Stanford, then killed himself after spiraling debt.
A Paris bulletin on Berthelot and Lord Dufferin notes that if Berthelot submits a patriotic order of the day to the chamber of deputies it would be carried unanimously regardless of its terms, provoking strong press enthusiasm. The report appears in the Daily News London March 17.
Kingston dispatch reports a blast at the Latin Rand Powder works in Rifton shortly after 1 PM killing five men named Jones Malley Peterson and two Decker. The explosion damaged the upper glacier dry house corning mill engine house and lower glacier with losses over 25000 dollars and fear of further danger.
Petersburg Va March 18 The famous case Commonwealth v Solomon Marable end with guilty verdict of murder in the first degree though sentence awaits. The trial followed earlier convictions and a supreme court reversal leading to a new trial. two women, Mary Abernathy and Pokey Barnes, accused as accessories, also were convicted and granted new trials.
Benjamin H. Milliken, private secretary to a US senator, goes on trial in Washington criminal court. Charged with house breaking and attempted assault on Judge Samuel F. Philips's daughter after a July 4 incident. He was captured on the roof with his coat inside out and shoes tied around his neck. Defense claims intoxication and lack of responsibility. The case draws wide interest and may run several days.
Charles Corkie a Charleston stone cutter cut his throat during the night in an apparent death by his own action. He survived with the windpipe severely cut and now breathes through a tube. Despair followed months of unemployment and impending starvation for his wife and children.

The interview signals France will not support a policy that neglects French interests in Egypt. France cites other objections to England pursuing a venture aimed at self advantage without Egypt in mind.
In New York on March 18 David Armstrong aged 35 and George Senior 35, a porter, fell from a roof at North Avenue while wrestling. Armstrong died instantly and Senior was fatally injured. It is unclear if a quarrel occurred as they appeared to be joining in a friendly bout before slipping over a stone coping.
