Train Struck by Boulder Near Prairie du Chien
A northbound Milwaukee Road passenger train near Prairie du Chien Wisconsin was almost hurled into the Mississippi River when a several ton boulder rolled onto the track as the train passed. The impact tore off wheel boxes and steps along the length of the train, leaving none on the rear car. Passengers were shaken but uninjured. Trainmen have long feared the rock. Three Men Shot by Crazy Kecro in Eufaula
In Eufaula Alabama on March 7 a prominent farmer Andrew Dowling near White Oak and his two sons were shot by a man described as a crazy negro. Dowling died from his wound while his sons were wounded but expected to recover. The assailant William Cooper seized a Winchester, attacked his wife and children, then shot Dowling and his sons at the door. Cooper is believed unbalanced. John Reynolis, the man who shot J Vinson yesterday, was captured in Fort Gaines and is jailed.
