Frankfort March 16 more than four hundred armed Kentuckians guarded the capitol as balloting for U S senator yielded one vote. Governor Bradley faced indignant crowds, a senate committee accused him, and an indignation meeting condemned the action. Public fear and tension rose while deputies barred access and soldiers patrolled entrances.
The long romance from the Civil War era ends in marriage as Captain James A. McFerrin of the internal revenue service weds Miss Clara Glenn of Columbus Georgia in Lewisburg. A tramp killed in a Sea board Air-Line freight wreck near Abbeville, South Carolina, is identified as Murray Adame, a horse thief being sought in three counties after escaping Greenville jail. Rewards were offered for the capture and will go to the officer who found his true identity.
News from Opelousas St. Landry Parish reports calm but many citizens are armed ready to oppose regulators arriving to avenge the Roys shooting. One man wounded yesterday is dying and cannot recover. Peace officers who shot him are arrested but expected to be discharged amid local support.
