The arbitration committee of the Southern Railway and Steamship Association met at the Fifth Avenue hotel from 10 a.m. to 3 30 p.m. to resolve differences between the Louisville and Nashville and the Cincinnati New Orleans and Texas Pacific. After three days with no settlement the committee reported the causes of the difficulties and the impossibility of adjustment. Samuel Spencer read the report. Despite speeches urging agreement, the talks failed and the executive board retired to end sessions to seek remedies. E B Stahlman chaired the meeting. The association plans to reconvene tomorrow at 3 30 a.m.
