German Officer Drowned In Rescue On Albano

Intelligence reports the sinking of the German steamship Albano after a life crew rescue. Second mate drowned as Bowen towed a barge, while Admiral’s crew were saved. twelve persons missing and presumed lost. Captain Koch of the Albano and the Bowen’s superintendent are named in the account.

The Albano second mate drowned during rescue efforts. survivors endured extreme cold and exposure.
