Washington March 7 Special. President Tafts peace and arbitration pacts with Great Britain and France were wrecked in the senate today. The body struck out the arbitration feature and adopted Senator Bacon of Georgia’s ratification resolution. It exempts aliens admission and schooling questions, repudiated bonds of the South, territorial integrity, and Monroe doctrine issues from arbitration. The defeat leaves treaties unlikely to be ratified by signatories. Senator Bacon later stated the senate is not opposed to arbitration, clarifying the position. Continued on Last Page.
