The October term adjourns today while the March term opens Monday leaving 140 pages of dockets. Brief hearings will proceed today and oral reargument starts next week as the court handles overflow from the last term. The Norwegian bark Oregon Halvorsen master ran ashore on St Simon's beach near Brunswick on Thursday night. Heavy winds broke her moorings and she fouled chain and anchor, but tugboats Inca Angie and Nellie freed her. A survey found no damage and she will proceed. Brock Convicted of Criminal Libel in Clarendon Case
Special report from Columbia South Carolina notes Hon J P Brock a leading Clarendon planter was found guilty of criminal libel for distributing a circular about W S Richbourg. Jury urged mercy and prosecution sought leniency. Judge set 50 dollars or one day on the chain gang. Brock posted bond and appealed to the supreme court.
