Prohibition Bill Passed by House in Arkansas

The Gann bill for statewide prohibition passed the Arkansas House 53 to 27 amid a large crowd and heated debate. Spectators packed the chamber as opponents attacked the measure and the Simpson substitute was rejected 44 to 36. Pending further action, a second bill to prohibit soda water sales was introduced by Ard of Jackson.

A O Brown, New York broker and partner of Alr Buchannan, travels with wife Miss Edna Wallace Hopper on a south tour of one and two night stands. Boy Moonshiner Bound Over For Federal Court

In Rome Georgia a 13 year old boy was bound over to federal court by a commissioner after officers raided his residence on Schur and found a 30 gallon still in a room adjoining the bed. The vehicle and gear were seized, the suspect later posted a $200 bond with Commissioner Printup.

City divvies into ten wards in new Atlanta plan

The Atlanta council approved redistricting to ten wards and annexed Oakland City and western territory effective January 1, 1810. A charter amendment must pass the legislature. Oakland City may form a single ward if it remains separate. a water main for Fort McPherson was authorized at about 8000 dollars.

Reports from the bedside of Eugene Powek last night say E P Black remains in extreme peril with his condition critical. A longstanding Atlanta pioneer and real estate figure, he served in the Confederate Army after leaving Emory College in 1861 and has been a prominent resident and public helper for about 40 years. He is at his Peachtree Road home.

Matthews Hurt by Street Car Collision Near Capitol Avenue

Barton Caught in Birmingham Safe-C cracker Arrested

United States inspector in charge at Atlanta reports George Barton, famed safe cracker, has been arrested in Birmingham. Officers plan to extradite Barton to return him to Milledgeville prison where he escaped two months ago. Barton, once jailed for blowing safes in Sharon and Canton, has a history of bold escapes from the Tower and later prison farms.
