Two masked armed men robbed a press car within the city limits of St Louis. They bound and gagged Messenger M. L. McRoberts and escaped with several packages and the money box after forcing open the safe aboard the Iron Mountain train near Ivory Station. Patrols were sent to Tower Grove and Fa Districts to trap the desperadoes as they fled hundreds of yards into a track maze.
Washington February 25 Special still in doubt over the capture reward. The government offered a bounty of 100000 dollars for the capture of Jefferson Davis alias John Wagner. Five witnesses testified regarding the pursuit and identification of the fugitive leader of the Confederacy.
Former Fulton County sheriff John W Nelms dies at his home on Gordon Street at 6 PM after a brief illness.
