Youth Drowns at Lakewood Park During Camp Week
Troy E. Ellis, 21, a Lakewood summer camper, drowned after attempting to swim to the far bank with his tentmate W A Dougherty who nearly drowned trying to save him. Ellis died at about 8 30 pm in about 20 feet of water. Dougherty, a car dealer, aided by life savers, retrieved the body and tried to rescue Ellis. Ellis, a student from a local business college, leaves three sisters and will be buried in Covington, Ga.
