Adams Talks of Postal Scoop and Railroad Rivalry
The Postal Telegraph Cable Company gains exclusive telegraph rights on Pennsylvania lines east of Pittsburg and Erie, effective July 1, expanding to 4,745 miles of railroad and boosting annual income by over 700,000 dollars. The move follows Vanderbilt Gould road tensions, with Western Union contracts in play west of Pittsburg. Atlanta rail officials return from Memphis, noting a busy Southeastern Passenger Association meeting and ongoing railway commission matters in Atlanta.
