Income Tax Plan Reforms Turbine Through Senate Panel

Democratic senators on the finance committee propose a revised income tax and tariff administration under the Underwood bill. The plan taxes individuals over 3000 dollars with new exemptions for spouses and dependents, expands non taxable groups including civic bodies, mutual insurers, and municipalities, and cuts controversial provisions on anti dumping and inquisitorial powers. The committee foresees further tweaks before caucus votes, with a potential joint committee to audit revenue laws and a 15000 dollar appropriation for investigation.
