Seymour Keener, a white youth, killed cousins Lillie Moore aged nineteen and Laura Moore aged seventeen near Tallulah Falls Tennessee valley. He had pursued Lillie for years after she refused him, shot Laura and Lillie as they walked to a neighbor’s, fled, was captured after a pursuit, and claims Laura was killed accidentally while expressing no remorse for Lillie. The victims were daughters of John Moore.

In Gretna, a New Orleans suburb, a mob lynched John Frey and beat another man to death after breaking into a home, wrecking furnishings, and setting the house on fire. Police officers were forced to surrender the prisoner to the crowd, who then hanged Frey from a telegraph pole as dawn broke. A second group arrested three other gang members, feared to face similar fates. Frey was the son of Dr. John Frey, a known survivor of Chenier Caminade.
