Castle Gould Wife in Suit Not Testifying at Hearing

On June 16 Howard Gould declined to testify against his wife Katherine Clemons Gould in a separation suit. Court hears continued gossip from former servants detailing alleged intoxication and abuses at Castle Gould on Long Island and at Blue Gap farm in Virginia. Witnesses described Mrs Gould as drunk and abusive, with incidents including a shaken carriage, a failed climb, and a clock moved during intoxicated episodes.

Central of Georgia Sold to Harriman Group

New York June 16 sale announced of the Central of Georgia railway to Harriman via the Miners Central plan. The Central, about 1900 miles, links Savannah routes to New York and Boston via Ocean Steamship lines. Harriman already controls the Illinois Central and now gains southern line reach through Birmingham connection. Major J F Hanson confirms transfer and future physical handover to Miners Central.

Autoists of Rome to organize and meet for cooperation

Rome Ga June 16 Special Automobile owners and drivers of Rome will meet at the Manufacturers and Merchants Association rooms tomorrow night to discuss mutual cooperation and accident prevention. The meeting is expected to lead to forming a Rome automobile association to act as a strong factor in improving street safety and member protection.

Officers Enter Ladies Bedroom in Atlanta Complaint

C P Jones of 46 Scott Street files grave charges with police commissioners against Sergeant A L Poole and Officers M H Cooper and C J Jameson. He alleges the trio forced entry at 3:30 am on June 9, searched the home, woke and insulted his wife mother-in-law and a 16 year old girl, and claimed they were seeking an escaped convict. He asks immediate investigation and warns against warrantsless entries.

Atlanta Charter Revision Board Adopts 26 More Sections

The charter revision committee met yesterday and adopted twenty six more sections of the proposed Atlanta charter. They had already adopted thirty four sections last Monday, with adjournment set for Friday at 3 pm. The meeting saw several amendments including changes to the duties of the police chief and the eligibility for reelection for mayors and councilmembers. First election set for next year with section four noting 1916 for the initial vote.
