Machine Guns Seized From Steamship Bound for Ireland
More than 500 modern machine guns and hundreds of spare parts were seized in New York from the steamship East Side, believed destined for Ireland. Customs men and Hoboken police removed the arms, held for a hearing, after a man named Frank Williams claimed loss of the cargo. A crew change linked to a nationwide strike aided the discovery. Plans to raise million for University memorial
Athens June 15 Special Alumni of the University of Georgia pledged to raise one million dollars for a war memorial fund. Chancellor Barrow lauded alumni support and said the project will benefit high school graduates, noting state education growth from 532 to over four thousand graduates since the last dormitory was built. The drive runs October 11 to November 11 with alumni from Georgia and elsewhere taking part.
