Atlantic Ice and Coal Co. faces Sherman anti trust probe

Florida congressman Frank Clark introduced a House resolution directing the Justice Department to probe the Atlantic Ice and Coal Corporation over alleged restraint of trade. President Ernest Woodruff of the Atlanta company defended its legality and urged a thorough inquiry into its operations and charter. Government sues Southern Wholesale Grocers Association

A federal petition filed in Birmingham seeks to dissolve the Southern Wholesale Grocers Association for restraint of trade. Duel on Pryor Street Between Rivals Ends in Slashes

Two 21-year-old men Grady Nunnally and Frank Barrett fought with pocket knives in front of 181 South Pryor Street after jealousy over a young woman. Labor Hosts Roast Senate in Georgia Rally

Savannah June 15 organized labor of Georgia condemned a Senate committee strike on anti trust law provisions that would bar labor from prosecution. Secretary Puckett work with Georgia delegation backed the move. Senators Bacon and King pledged support. Labor federation plans a nationwide drive to remove the clause. Delegates traveled on special cars to Thunderbolt for the labor ball after a luncheon at a local brewery.

Parker Society Works Donated to Wesley Memorial Church

Rev Jamey W Lee presented to Wesley Memorial church the Parker Society publications. The society, founded mid nineteenth century under Shaftesbury influence, published fifty four volumes of English Reformers writings. Included are Latimer Ridley Cranmer Coverdale Hooper Jewell Bullinger Cooper and early English church history up to the Reformation. Atlanta Cets Old Post Office Under Municipal Purchase

Washington June 15 Special. Atlanta will acquire the old post office by paying a nominal sum, under a sundry civil bill paragraph allowing municipal purchase. The lot, given by Atlanta, will be deeded back to the city. Conferees from Senate and House approve the item, with strong support from Clay Livingston and other members. No danger of rejection of the conference report.

Man Killed by Lightning While Plowing in Ramhurst

Delton Georgia June 16 Charlie Brazablett of Ramhurst was killed this afternoon by a bolt of lightning while at his plow in his field. No eyewitnesses. his wife nearby working in the shelter of the house heard the thunder and found him dead on return. He was married.
