A large rally in Dalton united counties from Atlanta to Chattanooga to promote the Constitution Road fight. North Georgia organizers highlighted broad regional support and emphasized coordinated action across municipal leaders and residents.
Ex Senator W Martin and Mayor Maddox led a Dalton good roads rally endorsing the Atlanta to Chattanooga route. Delegations from Chattanooga Marietta Calhoun Cartersville spoke as The Constitution backs a state wide roads program with county action through a proposed bill. The event included a Georgia barbecue and speeches by Roby Robinson and others.
Dalton Ga June 12 Special Following a good roads rally permanent organization formed to build a highway from Chattanooga to Atlanta via Catoosa Whitfield Gordon Bartow Cobb and Fulton counties Hon W C Martin elected president Johnston Sherman National Highway Association to oversee route from Fort McPherson to Fort Oglethorpe with Atlanta and Chattanooga as homes and broad membership across counties.
Dalton Ga June 2 Special President John L Lee of the Georgia division of the Farmers Union paid tribute to The Constitution in a speech at the Dalton courthouse. He praised the paper for backing the good roads movement and supporting Georgia ahead of a fall contest, comparing its past aid to the Farmers Union with its present influence for public roads.

Beautiful Mrs. Ruiz killed herself in London on May 16 amid sensational claims of a love affair with Mr. A. G. Vanderbilt. The coroner reported death by own action while of unsound mind. Witnesses included Charles F. Williamson and Miss Handeth Caney who described Ruiz as troubled and sleepless, with insomnia treated by tabloids.
Special master Frank E. Callaway submitted to the United States circuit court a report on the headlight bill sought by Seaboard Air Line Receivers Warfield and Williams. The report supports their position that the Tift act was not constitutionally passed and notes the bill would force electric headlights on all state railroads. The case, brought for an injunction, was referred to Callaway with June 12 set for his full findings before a ruling on the injunction. Continued on Page Two.
Governor elect Joseph M Brown in Elberton outlines a bond issue of about 90900 to fund late pay for Georgia teachers. The plan floats bonds at 2 percent, pays teachers in spring and summer, and is reimbursed in fall when taxes come in, with gradual bond retirement and no tax increase.
On June 22 the new Georgia legislature convenes and on June 26 Governor elect Joseph Mackie Brown will be inaugurated. July 6 sees A. S. Clay elected U S senator. Brown's inaugural address will be brief and pointed, outlining campaign issues. The program likely includes reducing the railroad commission, creating a labor bureau, amending registration rules to allow later registration, and resisting liquor law changes.
