The injunction was considered with the New York Dock Company seeking relief by surrendering described bales into the court.
Lucian Carden a Louisville and Nashville conductor in Birmingham Alabama who had been in a hospital for three months attempted suicide by slashing his throat with a razor today. His mother Mrs Maltson Carden in Glasgow collapsed and died upon hearing the telegram of his injury. Carden had both legs amputated months earlier and reportedly smoked a cigar while workers removed them, continuing to smoke during the return to the hospital.
Ogden Utah June 1 Four hundred kegs of powder were discharged prematurely at the Union Portland Cement Company quarry near Devil Slide Weber canyon eight miles from Morgan. Seventeen workers are missing and believed killed. Foreman Hugh McGuire and seven Hallans, two Japanese, and other Hungarians are named among the missing as a tunnel beneath the plant held 409 hems of powder ready for blasting when the blast occurred.
