Fall Fatal for Cairo Consul General Long
Consul General John G Long of Cairo Egypt died in Dunbar Scotland after an accidental fall while visiting friends. Born 1844 in Wilmington North Carolina, he later moved to Florida. Appointed consul general at Cairo in October 1893, he was 57 years old. He spent the evening with Major General Sir Francis Wingate before his fatal fall.
