Fatal Erie locomotive boiler explosion near Port Jervis
Port Jervis July 24 1878 a terrible Erie railway boiler explosion on the Delaware division eight miles west of Port Jervis instantly killed three men and wrecked cars. Engineer Jefferson Fuller of Honesdale, fireman Stevenson of Honesdale, and frogman Bonnell of Pike County perished. wrecking train sent to scene with Dr Sol Vin Ettton and others. Coroner to hold inquest as destruction and loss reach about two thousand dollars.
