Congressional election enforcement bill debates flare up

A flood of OCR readable texture covers wartime era discourse on federal supervision of congressional elections, including the proposed force bill, its provisions, officer duties, penalties, and procedural steps. It contrasts northern and southern perspectives, cites Supreme Court and political tensions, and closes with editorials and public letters urging patience and unity amid constitutional reform.

Debate on Indian schools and silver bill in Senate

The Senate discussed Indian denominational education funding and a silver bullion bill. Mr Dawes defended Catholic missions and argued against state support for denominational schools, while Messrs Reagan and George opposed church state ties. Amendments funding Indian schools were rejected, and the bill advanced with related appropriations and tariff actions. The silver bill would set standard silver dollars and enable government purchase of bullion if prices rise.
