Heroic cousin saves Maura from Madrid assassination
In Barcelona on July 28 Antonio Maura, ex premier and conservative leader, escaped a Madrid bound train attack when his 18 year old cousin threw herself at the assailant. A pistol discharged three times, Maura was wounded in shoulder and leg but details describe the cousin’s brave intervention. The attacker Pisa claimed no intent to kill Maura, seeking only to stage a demonstration. Wounds not considered serious.
