A bear attack shook investor confidence causing the stock market to plunge as prices dropped across major indices. Traders monitored volatility while institutions reassessed risk exposure and market makers tightened liquidity.

Hon Henry G Turner of Brooks a former congressman and noted southern Georgia lawyer is favored to accept the vacant Supreme Court seat after Justice Lumpkin's death. Governor Terrell has pressed Turner amid Bennett’s refusal. Turner's health has improved and reports say he may accept within days.
Reports from Caracas say government forces under General Gomes captured Ciudad Bolivar after days of heavy fighting. The city endured bombardment, barricades, and civilian peril as rebel positions collapsed. Heavy losses were noted on both sides, with a brutal street-by-street struggle central to the assault and the capital now effectively under government control.

The procession and urn transport through Vatican grounds drew torches and quiet ceremony. The Vatican notes the improved church state relations as a measure of the event.
