Tower crowded with Chinese laundymen in raid on East Hunter street
Twenty five Chinese laundermen were jailed after a gaming raid on the Leotg Vick Merchandise Co. on East Hunter near the courthouse. Officers, led by Chief Turner, found four or five gambling tables in the basement with opium fumes and a chaotic stampede as detainees tried to flee. Cards and dice bore Indian imagery and odd markings, a bank with around 490 dollars was seized, and several suspects were charged with keeping a disorderly gaming house.
