Lieut Governor Bill Passes Amid Court Reform Debate

The 1911 legislature neared adjournment as a bill to create a lieutenant governor failed to attract broad support. Judge J O Adams of Hall County says he seeks reelection as representative, not the new post. The measure, authored by McElreath Worsham and Adams, would amend the constitution and go to voters in August if Senate approval and public backing occur. A companion bill would create municipal courts to replace justice courts in cities over 10 000 population, with Atlanta Augusta Savannah Macon and Columbus in scope. The House backed both measures, while opponents argued the reforms reflect business policy over legal tradition.
