Water spout damages near Leavenworth in July storm
A waterspout near Leavenworth Kansas caused extensive damage within miles of the city late last night, with rainfall of about six inches and losses estimated around half a million dollars. Cattle were drowned in Laton Missouri, and hundreds of wheat acres were washed into the Missouri River. Railroads reported track damage and disrupted traffic as the Missouri River rose, forcing residents to move stock and belongings from vulnerable bottoms.
