Acquittal in Bowie Posey murder trial in Le Plata
In Le Plata Maryland on July 12 the jury acquitted Mrs Bowie and her son Henry of murdering Hubert Posey last January after less than five hours deliberation. Defense attorney Sydney Mudd argued the defendants were not legally responsible due to insanity while stressing unwritten law protecting family honor. The State’s Attorney had hinted a possible manslaughter verdict but the jury rejected both guilt and acquittal for any lesser charge.

Dublin Ga July 12 A sea survey indicates Laurens may surrender about 6 000 acres to Dodge county after a century of possession. Surveyor C C Anderson set the line, which starts correct but ends two lots west of previous bounds. Four Drownings After Boat Swamp in Creek
