Seaboard plans to run trains into Atlanta from Birmingham
First Vice President J M Barr of Seaboard Air Line said trains would reach Atlanta from Birmingham within a year. Work on East and West linking lines will push ahead, surveying between Rockmart and Atlanta to locate the route. Major Thomas and others discussed limited trackage into the city. Seaboard plans its own line and will not use Western and Atlantic tracks except for a small segment. The Birmingham victory in court allows entry with 26 feet retained for Belt line and Seaboard gains to occupy specific avenues and streets. A Transportation Club meeting is set for Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Freight Association room.
